What is canine bodywork?

Canine bodywork is a gentle, hands-on approach designed to support comfort, mobility, relaxation, and overall well-being in dogs.

Sessions may include massage, myotherapy techniques, stretching, PROM, and mobility focused bodywork taiilored to your dogs individual needs and comfort level. 

What are the benefits for my dog?

Our services support mobility and flexibility, promote relaxation and circulation, help maintain comfort in active and aging dogs, and reduce tension and stiffness.

What if my dog is nervous or easily distracted?

Every session is approached with patience and respect for your dog's comfort and peace. We work at their pace to ensure a positive experience.

Many dogs are initially curious, cautious or energetic. 

Sessions are adapted to your dogs personality and comfort levels. 

The goal is to create a supportive and positive experience. 

What should I expect in the first session?

The initial appointment includes:

  • time to discuss your dog's history and lifestyle
  • review goals and concerns
  • observe comfort and movement patterns
  • provide a tailored bodywork session
  • discuss recommendations for ongoing support if appropriate.

How often should my dog have a bodywork session?

The frequency of sessions varies depending on your dog's individual needs and goals.

Some dogs will benefit from occasional wellness sessions, while others may enjoy more regular maintenance support. 

Recommendations are individualized and based on your dog's comfort and response. 

What types of dogs may benefit from bodywork?

Senior dogs, active & sporting dogs, dogs experiencing stiffness or tension, dpgs needing mobility or comfort support, dogs who benefit from relaxation and gentle maintenance care. Every dog is unique and sessions are adapted accordingly. 

Do you offer mobile appointments?

Yes. Opimal K9 Bodyworks is a fully mobile service, providing in-home appointments throughout the Los Angeles area.

sessions take place in the comfort and familiarity of your home to help create a calm and low stress experience for your dog. 

How long are the sessions?

Session durations vary depending on the specific service and your dog's needs. This will be discussed during your initial consultation.

Typical appointmements include: Initial consultation session 75-90 minutes 

Wellness session: Approximately 60 minutes

Maintenance session: Approximately 45 minutes

Is canine bodywork the same as veterinary treatment?

No. Optimal K9 Bodywork provides wellness focused bodywork, designed to support comfort, mobility and wellbeing.

It is complementary to veterinary care, not a replacement for veterinary diagnosis or treatment. 

We focus on muscular and soft tissue health to enhance overall well-being. Verterinary consultation is recommended for medical concerns or conditionis.

What if my dog has a medical condition or recent surgery?

Please reach out to me to discuss this before booking.

In some cases veterinary guidance or referral for dogs with existing medical conditions or recent surgeries may be recommended to ensure bodywork is appropriate and safely tailored to your dogs needs.

As a licenced RVT and qualified Canine Physical Rehabilitation theraapist I am happy to work under your vets direction and approval to provide rehabilitation exercies in additon to bodywork. This arrangement is subject to additonal fees and scheduling availability.

What do I need to prepare before an appointment?

Please ensure your dog has had a chance to relieve themselves before our arrival.

A quiet, comfortable space on the floor for your dog to lay down and relax is ideal. 

Fresh water, treats (if appropriate) and familiar bedding or mats can help to create a comfortable envirnment. 

What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a cancellation fee. 

This helps to protect appointment availability and travel scheduling. 

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, Zelle, Cheque

What areas do you serve?

Travel is included within approximately 30 minutes of 90039

Extended travel outside the standard area may be available and may incur an additional travel fee.
